Progression

Good morning blog world. I'm slowly starting to actually get better now. I'm still all congested and I'm coughing pretty nasty in the mornings, but overall I don't feel like absolute crap anymore. That's a praise at least! Maybe I'll finally kick this thing in the next few days... Until then though, I'm carrying on as usual and of course that means today is Weigh In Wednesday, and I'm linking up with Alex and Erin. And here's the glorious site I saw this morning....!!

Initial starting weight = 227
January starting weight = 217
Last week, February 27 = 199.5
Today, March 6 = 195.5

Which means holy crapola peeps - I lost FOUR pounds this last week! And that's while I've still been sick! I honestly don't know how this happened. I think I got lucky this week. Or maybe my body is just finally used to burning more calories or maybe my metabolism has increased... (And it probably has something to do with my 2 a.m. horrible tummy discomfort in the bathroom this morning...ugh) However it happened, I'm freaking pumped!! And for some totals - I've lost 21.5 pounds since January!! And since I was at my highest, I've lost 31.5 pounds!!!

My exercise log for this week is going to be short and easy, because it only happened twice...
Monday: 45 lunch time walk with my Aunt (approx. 125 cals)
Tuesday: 50 minutes of Zumba (435 cals)  -- I left early to make it to a movie ;)

And that's it folks. I was still feeling too crappy to do much more than that. However, I'm finally on the mend, so I'm ready to get back at it. I'll be attempting to run this afternoon after work, and hopefully that goes well!

Oh, and I got my new Polar watch in on Monday night, and used it for the first time yesterday! It was pretty awesome, and I liked being able to see exactly how much I was burning during each Zumba song. I wasn't going all out yesterday in order to not overdo it for my first workout again, but I burned about 30 calories per normal-pace song, and about 60 for the high-intensity, fast-paced songs. That made it a total of 435 calories for the 50-minute session. I'll be excited to see how it goes on Thursday when I'm working my hardest and giving 100% for each song, and I stay the whole time. Hopefully I'll hit somewhere between 550-600 calories, according to the watch!

Oh, and I'm playing one of those DietBet games as of today! Erin (this one hosting this link up) is actually the one hosting this DietBet, and I'm excited about the chance to win some moolah!! The super simple explanation of what this is: you pay a $15 entry fee, you have six weeks to lose 4% of your body weight, and whoever does that splits the pot! Right now, the pot is up over $3,000!! Crazy awesome. So for me, my official weigh in for this was at 197. Which means I have to lose 7.88 pounds in four weeks in order to win money. That means I need to hit 190 pounds by April 3! I can totally do this. And so can you! You can still sign up to join us if you want to, so go HERE to check it out.

And in case you missed it yesterday, I wanted to share this again to show off a couple of progression shots...

Slowly but surely this weight is coming off. And it feels great. I'm not gonna lie - it feels good to look back at old pictures and see the differences in my body. I like being able to physically see that my body is changing and getting healthier. And I like showing that off too. It gives me more confidence. And it also holds me more accountable. And lately, some of you have been telling me that I'm motivating and inspiring you. But guess what? That just motivates me even more! So it becomes a nice little cycle of motivation for all of us. Thank you to all of you who encourage and congratulate me! It really means a lot, and helps keep me going sometimes. I'm glad I can share this journey with all of you!

You're looking fabulous girl!!! Congrats on the weight loss!

I got my elliptical last Friday and I've been on that thing every single day! Not for very long, because I'm just starting out and need to build up so I don't strain a muscle, but I feel fantastic!

I briefly saw your weight loss photos yesterday with the link up I joined in on, but now that I know a bit more of your story - CONGRATS!! Holy crap you've done awesome this week, that's a huge weight loss.

It's so strange, now that I'm on my own weight loss journey, I'm more responsive and engouraging of others. It's all about a positive attitude and every little bit, or every sweet comment really helps. I personally love giving myself little rewards for making it to a goal I've set myself for the week. Last week I didn't do so great, but still maintained my weight, which is huge on it's own.

Also, I have a question for you about Zumba. I've been wanting to try a class or two, but wondered how easy it is, and if they go over the basics.

Sorry for this overwhelming comment(s) - but you are totally inspiring :) It's all about the motivation!

Wow! That's awesome! I wish I was more motivated right now. I'm in the funk where I want to get healthier and lose weight, but I can't make myself do anything about it. I need to keep reading along with you and maybe you're motivation will rub off on me. :)
