P Title's Are Getting Difficult

For a couple of weeks now, or maybe a month or so (I've lost track of time I guess), I've been thinking about changing up my blog. Not like some drastic change where I start doing fashion posts hashtagging my #OOTD photos or anything...not that those are bad, they're just not ME - I'm not a fashion-blogger-kind-of-girl. But I've just been thinking about changing the NAME of my blog. The title. The header. The name. But it seems like such a big deal to change it, after blogging for over three years under Penguins, Pasta & Polka Dots...

I just feel like I'm tired of that title now, and I'm ready for something new. I'm also realllyyyyy tired of trying to come up with titles for each and every blog post so that they all start with a P. (I bet some of you didn't even realize that before I just pointed it out to you, huh?) In the beginning it was really cute, and I loved doing it. But NOW, 430+ posts later, and it's exhausting. I currently have about 10 posts (wedding-related recaps!) sitting in my drafts folder waiting to be posted, simply because I can't think of titles for them. Lame right? I want to just name stuff whatever the heck I want to! But I simply can't bring myself to do that as long as my title is still the same, and it's still the same schtick around these parts. Once I get a new name, I'll finally feel like I'm allowed to title my posts however I want to.

Here's the biggest problem I have though - I can't actually think of a new blog title!!

I've been thinking about it for so long not because I'm just so torn up over the decision of whether or not to change it, but more so because I have no idea what to change it to. I have zero ideas that make sense or sound cute or that I wouldn't immediately regret. So here I sit -- wanting a new blog title, but having no brilliant ideas of what that would be.

So I've got some questions for my fellow friends and bloggers: How did you come up with your blog title? Was it easy? Did it come to you in a rush and you knew immediately that was the right one? Or did you mull over it for a while until you tweaked and perfected it until you got just the right thing?

I'm totally open to suggestions and ideas if you guys have any random thoughts or titles lying around just waiting to snatched up... Feel free to toss those over my way. For now though, I'll just be sitting over here racking my little brain to bits trying to come up with something. I'll also keep stashing away wedding recaps for a bit, and then y'all will be flooded with a barrage of wedding showers, bridesmaids luncheons, rehearsals and the likes...So prepare yourselves for that :)

Much Love,
Halie

What if you did something to signify all the new in your life - new wife, new step-mom, new blog?

The New Mrs. (Your last initial)

or just simply Mrs. (Last initial)

It's funny you wrote this post...I changed my blog title last week! I had been wanting to do it for a while but couldn't decide what I wanted to name it. I finally mentioned it to another blogger friend and after about an hour and a half of brain storming we came up with my new title. My suggestion would be pick a word that you really want in there and use that as a starting point. Try to make it personal. I'm more than welcome to help you brain storm if you want. Just email me :-)

Here is a post explaining why I choose the name I did. http://www.kblblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/new-name-same-blog.html

I renamed my blog this year too! I think there's something in the air...

However, you DO have a lot of 'new' in your life, and that's typically what prompts the change of a blog. The change in scenery, the change of your name, of your thoughts, beliefs, etc. Be sure to stay true to YOU, and your faithful followers will be right there along with ya!

I did not realise about the 'P' thing until you mentioned it, so maybe a change is good, especially with a new year arriving.

My blog name was really easy as I wanted to convey what my blog was about so anyone looking would have an idea. If I may suggest, that should be your starting point. What is your blog about? What are you trying to convey?

I hope you find something you like - and good luck with it all!

I second the choosing a word you really want to use as a starting point! I knew that I wanted "fireflies" in there somewhere so that is what I started with. Fireflies signify so many different things that are important to me so even though I've been blogging for 4 years now I think and I've never thought about changing it. I'd advise going against something with your name or about the current stage of your life because you are just going to want to change it again when you move into a new stage. You said you have ideas but just can't think of anything cute or that sounds right. If you wanted to share those, I'm happy to help you brainstorm!

What about Halie's Comments? Good luck with the name search.

I changed the name of my blog TWICE...as in, I'm on my third blog name! Originally, I was "Training to be a Texan" because we had just moved to TX...and then when we moved back to GA, I changed it to "everything Emily", but just felt that was lame. I had started using the signature "blessing to you"...and the name came from that!!

I've been wanting to change my blog name too since I'm not really a Disney centered blog and my blog has developed into more than just running related stuff. Like you though, I have no idea what I want to change the title to!

I've been blogging for close to 12 years and in that time i think i've had just as many blogs! Coming up with clever catchy titles is tough. Sometimes I use a thesaurus! helps come up with other words in place of plain words to jazz things up!
